Account Type : The account type for foreign investment will be a Cash Balance account. A Cash Balance account is fully funded, i.e. the investor credit line is equal to the amount deposited with SCB Securities

Rules, regulations, and guidelines

Permissible Foreign Securities Investment

  • Listed foreign securities, rights and benefits arising from corporate action events offered by listed foreign companies.
  • T-Bills and corporate bonds with investment grade
  • IPOs and POs
  • Investment unit of mutual fund which policy investment is under SEC regulation
  • Listed foreign derivatives under SEC regulation

Other Rules and Regulations

  • Funds for foreign securities investment cannot be from a loan or borrow.
  • The investor can engage in foreign exchange (FX) hedging to mitigate the FX risk through a financial institution, but must inform SCB Securities accordingly.
  • Joint accounts and Juristic bodies cannot invest in foreign securities.
  • Client who receives any amount of withholding tax income has an obligation to file U.S. withholding tax information to the Department of the Treasury, Internal Revenue Service Center ("IRS").

  • Free cash transfer-out charges (THB to foreign currency). Minimum transfer-out amount 10,000 baht per transaction.
  • No Cash transfer-in charge for US Dollar (USD) and Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) currency. Except for transfer back in same currency to be deposited to client’s Foreign Currency Deposit account (only for FCD open with SCB) or for other purposes will be charged 1,200 Baht per time per currency, and the intermediary bank fee may be charged base on a case-by-case basis.
  • Cash transfer-in charge (Foreign currency to THB) is 500 Baht per transaction per currency (except USD, HKD, VND, CNY) and the intermediary bank fee will be charged based on a case-by-case basis.
  • *Cash transfer-in charges for Vietnamese Dong currency (VND) and Chinese Yuan currency (CNY) is 1,500 Baht per time and The intermediary bank fee will be charged base on a case-by-case basis.
  • **Vietnam Minimum commission charge is per day with additional conditions 1. Trade under same security 2. Segregate accumulated buy side from accumulated sell side.
